Summary:
In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve; the Maintenance Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining all physical plant assets on the property.
Under limited direction, the Maintenance Assistant provides general service and repair work throughout the facility.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for all service and repair tasks as assigned.
Assists with the scheduling of vendors and contractors for necessary building repairs and emergencies outside the scope of routine maintenance.
Assists in emergency situations related to the physical plant and acts as the facility's safety officer.
Ensure that regular equipment and systems maintenance schedules are monitored at all times.
The Maintenance Assistant works with department heads to ensure routine maintenance in Residents care areas does not interfere with the care or safety of Residents.
Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the supervisor.
Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Residents care areas.
Assists with training of new staff.
Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines at all times and protects confidential information by only providing information on a need-to-know basis.
Attend and participate in meetings and in-services as directed or scheduled.
Attends in-service and education programs and attends continuing education required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure (if applicable).
Understands Infection Control and follows the Company's Infection Control guidelines, such as hand washing principles, understanding of isolation and standard precautions, recognizing signs and symptoms of infection, demonstrating and understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste and cross contamination, maintaining personal hygiene, and complying with OSHA standards in the workplace.
Promotes and Protects Resident Rights by assisting Residents to make informed decisions, treating Residents with dignity and respect, protecting Residents' personal belongings, reporting suspected abuse or neglect, avoiding the need for physical restraints in accordance with current professional standards, and supporting independent expression, choice and decision-making consistent with applicable laws and regulations.
The Maintenance Assistant performs other tasks as required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prefer 2 years Previous experience working in a building maintenance capacity.
Knowledge of Standard Precautions, Disaster Preparedness, OSHA, and other state/federal regulations.
Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:
Must have working knowledge of carpentry, preventative maintenance and ground maintenance.
Ability to communicate effectively and read blueprints, building plans and repair manuals.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify issues and determine that repairs are needed.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration and heating preferred.
Basic computer knowledge required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
